Perfect for a new photographer looking to get into bird photography
I think he does a really good job of taking what could be a complex subject and making it simple.I own larger books on bird photography and they do go into more detail, but he keeps it short and simple.Armed with what you learn in his book you’ll be ready to get your camera and go take great pictures. He gives a good overview of ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed. I have been into bird photography for a little while and my pictures were pretty great already, but I picked up a few tips and tricks in this book that really made a big difference. If you are looking for a book to help your bird photography that will only take a few hours to read….this is it.

Great Book. You will learn a great deal and use the information in the book to improve your photography.
I first ran across Mark’s work on YouTube as I searched for photography videos. He has a great, informative YouTube site that offers interesting and educational videos. He also possesses a very nice style of portraying his work and keeps your interest by mentioning and pointing out facts and features that keep his videos flowing. The other thing I would say about him is that he is definitely passionate about birds. His knowledge base is extremely good. In addition, he isn’t just a random amateur going out and clicking away at photos. He is a great photographer and some of his photos are just remarkable. I would encourage others to check his YouTube videos out if they haven’t done so. While watching his videos, I noticed that he had written a book on bird photography and so I decided to purchase it. I’m glad I did. There is quite a bit of information in the book that will make you a better bird photographer. He shares facts and information that frankly, I hadn’t thought about. In addition, the information that he provides can also be used for other types of photography as well. I’ve just bought the book recently and have already used some of his tips in the field. Also, I had a few questions, so I emailed him and he sent me his responses within a day’s time. I hardly ever write reviews or take surveys, but I felt that I wanted to express my opinion and satisfaction with this book.

Excellent Guide Book for DSLR Photography!
Bird Photography: A Beginner’s Guide to Mastering the Art of Capturing Stunning Images of Birds by author Mark B. Smith is a fantastic guide for beginners! The terms and explanations for DSLR camera settings were concise and easy to understand, which is imperative for beginners. It is very easy to become overwhelmed with all the components of capturing a sharp photo when an amateur photographer is out practicing. The author explains shutter speeds and lighting conditions for stop action to capture birds in flight. I highlighted so many passages in this book, and having my copy as a Kindle format means I can always refer to settings and instructions on my phone!I really enjoy watching Mark Smith’s video on YouTube. My husband and I have watched all of them twice on our large TV.Click here Escape With A Book.

I’ve been watching Marks videos for a little over a a year and love his personality and love for bird photography. I just knew his personality would carry right through into his book. I love all the ways he uses to explain photography concepts, and the use of illustrations to communicate a point. This book will help you break down learning to be a great photographer in bite size chunks. Now, I just need to run into Mark out on the birding trails somewhere. Come on, let’s go!

One of my best sources of valuable and easy to understand and implement information.
I follow Mark Smith on YouTube, his website, and this book. His teaching style is extraordinary and he really seems to enjoy making me a better photographer. I truly believe that he is talking directly to me in an easy to understand way that makes his valuable information easy to implement. After 40 years of photographing everything from News, PR, and Nature, I am still hungry to learn more.Mike is helping me get better every day at photographing birds. Since I live on the ocean in Maine next to a wildlife preserve, I have plenty of opportunities to practice. This s a must read book if you are serious about photography and birding. It really covers both subjects. Thank you Mark! This is my favorite photography book to date.

Marks book “Bird Photography for Beginning Photographers” is absolutely the very best ever. His explanations are concise and easy to …
As a “senior Cityzen” I have been engaged in photography for just under a year. I am focusing on “Flowers, Birds and Landscapes”. Taken 4-5 on line classes already and read several books. Marks book “Bird Photography for Beginning Photographers” is absolutely the very best ever. His explanations are concise and easy to understand. In the few hours it took me to read the book I feel I advanced significantly. I’m leaving tomorrow to go to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Area and plan to put his instructions to the test. I’m taking the book with me and will read it again while I wait for the “Golden Hour”.

In your youtube video please do a field tutorial while you are doing action shot like flight or hunting like how you use all your settings and focusing it would be great.

Mark will get you started using easy to understand language, concepts and diagrams. His EXIF information on photos is helpful. It’s especially useful for Nikon DSLR users, through the novice level and slightly beyond. You can learn alot from Mark with this and his YouTube videos.

Mark is a real pro with entertainer qualities. I really enjoy watching his YT channel. So if you also would like to take up bird photography this book is just what you need. I’m also getting the osprey book for my birthday as I really like the shots that mark presented from there in his channel.
